Yurts Australia

  • 1) Are there instructions and how long will it take to install?

An instructional cd will be sent out with your yurt. For a novice it could take a day but for someone with minimal experience with building and construction it will take 4-5 hrs to complete with 3-4 people helping.

The yurt components are protected by crates which may be removed from the truck by a forklift you provide or disassembled with a cordless screwdriver. Once the crate is disassembled, the yurt components can be removed piece by piece. It is helpful to have at least two people and a couple of cordless screwdrivers available during this process.

  • 2) Delivery of your yurt can be organised by Yurts Australia for an additional fee. Please contact us for a quote

The yurt components are protected by a crate which will be loaded via forklift onto your ute or truck.  The crate size volume is 3.7CBM, G.W. 420kgs.  Crate size is approx.. 2.6 x 1.2 m

  • 3) Does a yurt need planning permission?

A yurt is generally considered a Class 10a non-habitable building which includes sheds, green houses, gazebos, studios and workshops – these do not generally require development or building approval.  There can be variations from state to state and different regulations apply to rural properties, so if unsure, check with your local council.

  • 4) Does the yurt come with a base to be fixed to?

No, you will need to form a base, either a platform off the ground or it can be bolted to a concrete pad.

You are responsible for the base and flooring in your yurt. If a subfloor is laid first, rigid foam insulation can be used under the yurt floor as well. If keeping the cost down is a concern, a simple plywood floor is a good option. This can be painted or stencilled to add your own special touch.

  • 5) How do we pick up our yurt?

Once in Australia, you will be contacted with a release date for your yurt. You will then need to organise to have your yurt picked up and delivered by truck or freight carrier. There is a 5 day holding period from the release date, after this, storage fees will be charged.

Delivery of your yurt can be organised by Yurts Australia for an additional fee. Please contact us for a quote.

  • 6) How long will my order and shipping take?

The manufacturing and delivery of your yurt will take about 30-40 days. All shipping and import charges are taken care of by Yurts Australia

  • 7) Returns And Refund Policy
  • 8) What life expectancy does a yurt have?

Each yurt comes with a 5 year manufacturing warranty. The yurt frame is made of aluminium alloy and bamboo lattice in between which should last a life time given the right care.
The outer layer double PVC coated polyester textile has a 5 year manufacturing guarantee.  With minimal maintenance, it has a life expectancy of at least 8 to 12 years.  We can supply replacement parts if needed.
